Welcome! These terms cover booking with Modern Mahj Michigan, attending our classes and events, and using modernmahjmi.com. By booking or using the site, you agree to them. Questions anytime: info@modernmahjmi.com.
Tickets and Class Bookings
If you can’t make it, you can give your seat to a friend or, if space allows, move to another date — email info@modernmahjmi.com at least 72 hours before the event. Moves are to an event of equal or lesser price; any difference isn’t refunded.
Inside 72 hours we can’t move your seat to another date, but you’re still welcome to send someone in your place — just have them give your name at check-in.
If we cancel an event for any reason — including low enrollment, weather, or a venue issue — we’ll refund your full ticket price to your original payment method.
Private Lessons
Private lessons can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 72 hours before the lesson for a new time or a full refund. Inside 72 hours, the lesson fee is nonrefundable. If we need to reschedule, we’ll offer a new time or a full refund.
Private Events
We host private mahjong events for groups. A deposit holds your date; the balance and final guest count are due by the dates we confirm in writing when you book. Deposits are nonrefundable if you cancel, but we’ll do our best to move your date if you give us notice.
At Our Events
Our classes and social events are for adults who want to learn and play American mahjong. Some events are designed for players who already know the basics; the event description will say so.
Events held at restaurants, hotels, shops, and other partner venues are subject to the venue’s own rules. You attend at your own risk, and Modern Mahj Michigan isn’t liable for lost or damaged personal property, or for the food, drinks, or services provided by a venue.
Photos and Video
We take photos and short videos at classes and events and may use them on our website, social media, and marketing. By attending, you agree we may include you. If you’d rather not be photographed, tell us when you arrive and we’ll do our best to keep you out of the shot.
Text Messages
If you opt in on our booking form, we’ll text you about new classes and events — up to 4 messages a month. Separately, if you opt in to appointment texts, our scheduling provider (Acuity Scheduling, a Squarespace company) sends reminders and waitlist notices for what you’ve booked.
- Consent to receive texts is not a condition of booking.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any message to cancel (you’ll get one confirmation text) or HELP for help.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

If you check the email box when booking, or sign up on our site, we’ll send occasional updates about classes and events. Unsubscribe anytime using the link in any email.

The content on modernmahjmi.com — text, photos, graphics, and logo — belongs to Modern Mahj Michigan and may not be reused without permission. Some pages include affiliate links to products we like; we may earn a commission at no cost to you (details in our Privacy Policy). We try to keep the site accurate, but we may change classes, pricing, and schedules at any time.
Changes and Governing Law
We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top will change when we do. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan.
